Vacuum-type MAP (Vacuum + Gas Flushing)
Workflow: first evacuate the chamber, then fill with mixed gas, and seal the opening.
Application: products requiring high freshness and long shelf life, such as fresh meat, chilled meat, cooked food, seafood, and braised food.
Advantages:
- High gas replacement rate (best preservation effect)
- Gas-efficient and low-cost
- Longer preservation time
Disadvantages:
- Slower than the gas-flushing type
- Not suitable for soft, fragile, or pressure-sensitive products (e.g., cakes, soft bread)

Gas-flushed type (Gas Purge + Flow Wrap)
Workflow: directly blow gas into the tray continuously to displace the air inside before sealing it.
Applications: suitable for packaging products that are sensitive to compression and cannot be vacuum-sealed, such as cakes, bread, salads, fruits and vegetables, and other soft foods.
Advantages:
- Extremely fast packing speed (suitable for assembly lines and high-volume production)
- Does not damage products
Disadvantages:
- High gas consumption
- Gas displacement efficiency is inferior to vacuum-type systems

How does a MAP packaging machine work?
Modified atmosphere packaging machines place food into tray boxes, evacuate the air inside via a positive pressure system, and then fill the boxes with a gas mixture (primarily nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and oxygen) according to specific ratios through a gas blender.
The packaging is then sealed to create a modified atmosphere for freshness preservation. This modified atmosphere packaging primarily preserves the color, appearance, and texture of food. It places the contents in a dormant state, where nitrogen and carbon dioxide inhibit certain bacteria, while oxygen helps maintain freshness, thus preserving the product’s original flavor.
Moreover, modified atmosphere packaging offers an aesthetically pleasing appearance. Unlike vacuum packaging, it avoids product deformation or wrinkling, resulting in excellent packaging effects. Consumers can easily open the packaging without tools.
